The summer catalog is overdue, Spring soccer is in full swing and the phone won't stop ringing......keeping the operations of your
Parks and Rec Department running smoothly can seem overwhelming at times.
Managing your time and having some
clearly defined goals of what it is you'd like to accomplish on a day to day basis can go a long way in helping you get there with as little stress as possible ;-) A proven way to get there is to simply
write things down!
What needs to get done,
when and
by whom? Then, as you finish up on a particular task, it gets checked off the list and you move on to the next one.

Remember the Milk is free online "task and time management" tool that may be able to help you and your coworkers adopt this "divide and conquer" mentality. When you first start thinking about a project, whether its getting the Summer Catalog put together or planning the fall soccer league, take a bit of time and jot down (at a high level at first) what needs to get done. Then, break these tasks into smaller tasks and enter them into
Remember the Milk...and add a tag to the list such as "Summer Catalog". Then, as you complete items on the list, check them off - it'll make you feel great and your one step closer to your goal.
For larger projects and larger teams,
Remember the Milk has a sharing function whereby tasks can be shared amongst other Remember the Milk users. Some of the other great (and free) features are;
- Reminders can be sent to your phone, email and IM client
- Adding tasks (even recurring ones) is a snap
- Supports "offline" access
- Supports tagging
So go ahead and
Remember the Milk,
Forget the Stress and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you.
